All of the below films are on my “watchlist, wishlist” for the upcoming November. It’s a pretty stacked month.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend (Nov 6 Theaters)
I think it’s amazing that ancient epics have survived the test of time to make it to our modern big screens. The Odyssey blew me away this year, and I’m so grateful that I was able to see it in the rare IMAX 70mm screening. But honestly, I was more blown away by the Dolby Cinema version of it.
I think Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is going to be a great epic time as well, and as much as I love Greek mythology, it’s refreshing to get a blockbuster movie of an ancient epic from a different culture. This ride is over three hours though, so strap in.
Godzilla Minus Zero (Nov 6 Theaters)
Godzilla Minus One is by far the best version of Godzilla that I’ve ever seen, and I can’t wait to see what they will do with the sequel. The Japanese reclaimed their story and did an excellent job adding more emotional depth to the tale surrounding this horrific giant lizard. I can’t wait to see what they have cooked up for the sequel.
Ghost Soldier (Nov 11, Theaters)
I am a sucker for a great war/veteran story, and Jim Caviezel knows how to portray a hero. I really enjoyed him in The Sound of Freedom ( I know that film is controversial), and of course we all remember his most well known portrayal of Christ.
This movie has him defending a rural family from greedy corporations. A timeless tale that is giving a bit of Yellowstone vibes.
Soul Patrol (Nov 11, Theaters)
Another great looking veteran story that focuses on African Americans during the Vietnam War. Reminds me of the movie Dead Presidents, and my late grandfather who served as a marine in the war. I’m glad these stories are being told.
Ebenezer (Nov 13, Theaters)
I’m going to lock in for any and all versions of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. I also stand by The Muppet Christmas Carol, Mickey’s Christmas Carol, and A Diva’s Christmas Carol being the best. This new version with Johnny Depp just might be added to that list, I’m already in tears over his “Merrrrry Christmassss” line.
Victorian Psycho (Nov 13, Theaters)
If it’s gothic romance or horror, I’m there. That’s it. That’s all.
I Play Rocky (Nov 20, Theaters)
As a Philly native, the Rocky franchise is something that I hold near and dear. Crazy enough, I am baffled to learn that Stallone had to fight to play the star role after writing the screenplay himself. I was even more baffled that he was told that he didn’t look like a movie star. I’m glad he stood his ground, and that makes the first movie even more special knowing that this is an underground classic both on and off the screen. Go Rocko!
The Hunger Games : Sunrise on the Reaping (Nov 20, Theaters)
One of my all time favorite franchises; we’re finally going to see what lead Haymitch down his dark path. It looks so bright and hippyish, yet still horrifying. Midsommar vibes.
Paper Tiger (Nov 20, Theaters)
This is giving me that old school 90s gritty crime drama. Miles Teller continues to impress me; I loved his role in Eternity. I’m looking forward to what he brings to his character in Paper Tiger.
Also, side note, the weekend of 11/20 is looking to be absolutely insane between these three movies AND GTA 6 finally being released.
Hershey (Nov 25, Theaters)
The sweetest place on earth, Hershey, is long overdue for a movie. Not far from Philly, going out to Hershey is certainly a treat. Not only are the sweets and attractions fun, but if you are a history buff, there is an intriguing story behind how Hershey, PA. I hope the film does it justice.
Did I miss any good ones? I know we’re pretty stacked for November.
